Four ways to fish the Gulf, one honest price on each. Every trip is private — one family, up to six guests — with everything included and nothing surprising you at the beach.

Great for: the truly hooked · milestone trips
J&H Surf Charters is a family-owned Galveston outfit built around the trips we take our own crew on: safety first, everybody learns something, every shark swims home, and every beach gets left cleaner than we found it.
The big picture — and the first handshake you get on the sand.
The one who answers when you call about dates. A real person, every time.
Rigs every rod. Runs every safety briefing. Nothing touches the water without his say-so.
Behind the camera — and the reason your trip photos look this good.
"Building a Legacy Through Adventure."
Land-based means no boat, no seasickness, and solid sand under every flip-flop — from toddlers to grandparents. Here's how an evening runs.
Canopy shaded, chairs out, rods rigged, coolers iced. Safety briefing first — always.
Far past the breakers — farther than any cast — placed exactly where the fish are, with nobody swimming a bait at dusk.
Everyone gets a turn on the rod with hands-on coaching. Our guides handle every hook and leader; your crew gets the fun part.
Every shark is photographed, revived, and released — and your kids learn why that matters.
Every charter — from the Sunset Adventure to the Legacy — includes all of it. No gear rentals, no upcharges on the sand.
One flat price. The only decisions left are who casts first and who's on camera duty.
Active-duty military, veterans, law enforcement, fire, and EMS. Flip the hero discount in the price card to see your numbers, or just tell Erica when you book. It's the least we can do.
Every family leaves with something you can't buy in a gift shop: your own Anglers Adventure Guide — a personalized record of your trip. The beach and the tides. The rigs Jeff tied and the knots your kids learned. Every shark you met, and released.
It goes home in your beach bag — so next summer, your family can grab a rod and do it yourselves. That's the point. We're not trying to be your guides forever.
A record of your family's trip
— so you can do it yourselves next time —
"If we wouldn't take our own kids out, we don't take yours."
Every camp carries satellite comms — so even on stretches of beach where phones drop signal, help is never out of reach.
First aid and emergency equipment travel with every trip, and Jeff — our fishing ops and safety partner — runs the briefing before a single line goes out.
Every kid is welcome with a responsible adult, and children stay supervised by a parent or guardian at all times. Our guides handle hooks, leaders, and every shark.
We make every weather call — forecast, tides, wind, and surf — and we make it early. If it's not safe to operate, you reschedule, free.
J&H Surf Charters, LLC is licensed and insured — and family-run by people who take their own kids to these same beaches.
Strict catch-and-release on every shark, handled by our guides and revived before release. Respect for the fish is part of the lesson.
Yes — with a rule we don't bend: all ages are welcome with a responsible adult, and children stay supervised by a parent or guardian at all times. Our guides handle all hooks, leaders, and sharks; kids get the fun parts. Add first aid on the sand, satellite communication, and a safety briefing before every trip, and you'll see why families are our favorite charters.
We make every weather call — forecast, tides, wind, and surf — and we make it early, so you're not guessing on the drive down. If it's unsafe to operate, you reschedule free of charge. If a reschedule is offered and you'd rather not take it, the deposit stays non-refundable — that's how we keep dates fair for every family on the calendar.
We can't promise a shark — nobody honest can. What we can promise: guides working the water all trip, real hands-on instruction your family keeps forever, a beach camp that's a great evening even between bites, and your Anglers Adventure Guide to take home. Most of what makes this trip has nothing to do with luck.
A 20% deposit reserves your date; the balance is due at the beach on trip day. The deposit is non-refundable — but weather reschedules are always free, on our call. The price card above spells out your exact numbers for any trip, including the 10% military and first-responder discount.
Almost nothing — rods, reels, tackle, bait, chairs, shade, and iced water are all on us. Bring sunscreen, towels, snacks for picky eaters, a camera, and a light layer if you're fishing into the night. We'll send a full packing note when you book.
No boat, ever. This is land-based fishing: we set up camp right on the beach and our drone carries baits out past the breakers. That means no seasickness, solid ground for grandparents and toddlers, and the cooler is never more than a few steps away.
A standard charter is one family, about 5–6 guests, so the trip stays personal. Got a reunion or a bigger crew? We do custom pricing with discounted group rates — just ask when you book.
Never. Every shark is strict catch-and-release — landed quickly, handled by our guides, photographed, revived, and sent home to the Gulf. We'll teach your kids why that matters. And we leave every beach cleaner than we found it.
Booking opens January 2027. Priority-list families pick their dates first, before the calendar opens to everyone else.
